Election Day 2024 has come and gone.
Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump has been declared the victor with 276 electoral votes.
Although several states are still finishing their final tallies, the former president appears to have won both the popular and electoral votes by safe margins. He announced his then-unofficial triumph during a speech at Mar-a-Lago last night.
Trump is the first convicted felon to hold office. He is only the second president to be elected to two non-consecutive terms in the last century. He beat the first two women to head a major party ticket with a misogynistic campaign that attacked Vice President Harris’ identity and qualifications.
Now the whole world is waiting to see how Trump will transform the US and its relationships with international allies – especially Ukraine.
